Achilles tactical training

Sniper course

Overview

The Achilles Sniper Course is an intensive program that develops the precision, discipline, and tactical expertise of a professional marksman. Combining classroom instruction with live-fire training at distances from 100 to 300 yards, students learn rifle setup, optics, ballistics, and shooter–spotter coordination and target acquisition. Guided by real-world instructors, participants gain the knowledge and field skills needed for reconnaissance, over watch, precision engagements and hunting. Making this course ideal for military, law enforcement, qualified civilians seeking advanced sniper training and Recreational shooter.

Equipment List and Ammunition

All equipment will be provided and students should dress in weather-appropriate clothing suitable for extended range sessions. Ammunition weapons & ammo can only be provided by training schools and cannot be self-supplied. Safety is the foundation of this course and must be observed at all times. Hydration and personal nutrition are important for long range sessions, so participants are encouraged to bring water and snacks. Because the course is progressive in design, with each lesson building on the one before, full attendance is required for successful completion and certification.

Experience Requirements

This program does not require prior sniper or long-range shooting experience. Participants should, however, be familiar with the basics of firearm safety and range etiquette. While beginner-friendly, the course does demand focus and discipline, as well as the physical ability to maintain prone and supported shooting positions for extended periods.

Course Outline

The training begins with an introduction to the sniper rifle and the role of precision shooting, as well as a thorough review of range safety and handling procedures. Students then move into rifle setup, focusing on correct stock fit, optic mounting and leveling, bipod use, and the fundamentals of rifle and optic maintenance. With equipment properly configured, the course shifts to the principles of precision marksmanship, including natural point of aim, breathing, trigger control, follow-through, and stable body positioning.

Once the fundamentals are established, the focus turns to ballistics and optics. Students explore the science of internal, external, and terminal ballistics while also learning to operate their scopes in detail, including the correct use of elevation, windage, and parallax turrets. The difference between MOA and MILs is explained, and ballistic applications are introduced to help simplify real-world calculations. The range portion begins with zeroing rifles at distances between 100 and 300 yards, followed by practical training in ranging targets through the reticle and with electronic aids. Students then build accurate come-ups and come-downs, record their results in DOPE charts, and practice ITTS “speed dialing” for rapid adjustments.

As the course advances, participants apply holds for both elevation and wind, read mirage and other environmental indicators, and integrate shooter–spotter dialogue into their workflow. The program culminates in live-fire exercises where students work in pairs, engaging timed drills and applying all skills under pressure. The final evaluation ensures that each shooter leaves with a clear sense of their progress and practical steps for continued improvement.
